What a difference two presidential nominees make. If Hillary Clinton wins the presidency with all the money in the bank, a majority of the Electoral College, the electoral votes and the popular vote, she would be the first woman president in US history. The news media, and so many Americans, would be celebrating because Donald Trump announced during his acceptance speech that he would be a “pussy” if he didn’t win.

When Donald Trump was sworn in as president, he immediately said, “I’m going to make America great again.” What a difference two presidential nominees make. If Hillary Clinton wins the presidency with all the money in the bank, a majority of the Electoral College, the electoral votes and the popular vote, she would be the first woman president in US history. The news media, and so many Americans, would be celebrating because Donald Trump announced during his acceptance speech that he would be a “pussy” if he did not win.

In the weeks when there had been a lot of press speculation about which party had the better candidate, it was clear that the press and the public had become even more polarized than ever.

Now, with Donald Trump’s announcement that was so much different from the campaign announcement, it is clear the media and even many supporters of Hillary Clinton failed to take into account what is really possible. Trump may be a pussy, but he can make America and the world a better place by focusing on the people he would serve, by building on the successes of the past and by continuing to use his intelligence, leadership and business acumen to make things happen.

It wasn’t Clinton’s lack of a foreign policy track record that made her a failed candidate. It was her lack of the kind of people who can make good decisions that matter to the best interests of America and the world. If Clinton were not the candidate in the field from the beginning, a Hillary Clinton presidency would have been a huge mistake. Now, with Trump as the candidate, it’s time to start preparing for the challenges before us.

As we approach 2017 and the election, we need to remember that, if not the best candidate, Hillary Clinton was at least the best qualified.
